Philip A. Acord is the
current President/CEO of the Chambliss Shelter of Chattanooga.
He has also served as Assistant Director and Executive Director
during his 34 years with the Chambliss Shelter. Mr. Acord received
a B.A. Degree in Psychology from Tennessee Temple University,
and he completed over 30 hours of graduate work in Organizational
Psychology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Mr. Acord
has served as President of the Tennessee Association of Child
Care Agencies, the Tennessee Conference on Social Welfare, the
Community Research Council, Southern Community Service Executives,
Association of United Way Agency Executives, the Tennessee Association
for the Education of Young Children, and the Southern Early Childhood
Association. Mr. Acord has served on the boards of the Urban League,
Chattanooga Venture, Chattanooga Human Services, Signal Center,
Southeast Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, Chattanooga
State Child Development Center, and many others. Mr. Acord is
married to his wife, Paulette, and has one son, Alan.
