YOUTH
Issues affecting Hamilton County’s youth
range from education to health to economic and social well-being.
CRC intends to examine how the needs of our youth are being met
in order to inform decisions made by local organizations working
with children and youth.
CRC and Youth
The principal product of the SETNIS project was
a comprehensive analysis of literacy in Hamilton County. The Reading
in Hamilton County 2003 study is now one of the cornerstones of
the Community Foundation’s Hamilton County Reading Initiative.
CRC has also provided analysis of health trends
among the region’s youth through work on the local Youth
Risk Behavior Survey and provides ongoing data analysis work for
the Head Start program.
In 2004, CRC participated in several aspects of
the Hamilton county Education Summit. The CRC provided analysis
of a community dialog from a series of eleven public forums. CRC
staff participated in the community forums as facilitators and
scribes. Subsequent to the forums, CRC staff served on several
of the County Mayor’s Education Task Force Groups.
